(Chamomile Vanilla)

This soap provides a sweet apple-herbal blend to soften your mood and skin. This bar is a dark, rich vanilla-bean color with the reminiscent scent of vanilla. It is very soothing for dry itchy skin. You will find this blend appealing to the senses and calming to the nervous system.

Sources: Roman Chamomile is a sweet, apple smelling perennial with daisy-like flowers. Native to Western Europe and cultivated in England, Belgium, France, and Hungary.

History: For centuries chamomile was found in English gardens and used medicinally in countless remedies. Fresh chamomile has a distinct aroma of apples. It is named from the Greek word Chamaimelon with Chamai (on the ground) and melon (an apple.) In the middle ages, chamomile was planted in walkways to gardens and when walked upon, revealed its’ fragrant, sweet scent. There is a common verse describing chamomile gardens: ”Like a chamomile bed- The more it is trodden The more it will spread.”

Sources: Vanilla grows as a vine. The fruit of vanilla is called the bean and contains the vanilla aroma when ripened. True vanilla is expensive due to the large amount of plant material necessary to produce just a small amount of oil.

History: Vanilla planifolia is the main species of vanilla and is harvested from and largely produced in Madagascar. There is limited recorded history on vanilla.
