Botanical Name:Peppermint (Mentha piperita)

Sources: This perennial herb grows up to 3 feet tall and is a native to the Mediterranean region. The United States is the largest producer of peppermint essential oil. It is also cultivated in Brazil, Argentina, France, Italy, Morocco, Poland, Holland, and several other countries.

History: Peppermint oil is one of the most widely used essential oils from food and beverages to medicines and cosmetics. Peppermint is documented to be one of the oldest Medicinal herbs, however, the oil was not used extensively as a medicinal herb until the 16th century.

Therapeutic Properties: Analgesic, anodyne, antacid, anti-inflammatory, anti-neuralgic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, carminative, cordial, digestive, rubefacient, sedative, stimulant, and stomachic.



Botanical Name:Thyme (Thymus vulgaris)

Sources: There are more than 40 species of Thyme identified. The most common species is known as (Thymus vulgaris) often called “garden” or “common” thyme. Thyme is a low growing perennial evergreen that grows well together with lavender.

History: The name Thyme is derived from the Greek word Thymon, meaning “to fumigate.” There are references from others that the Greek word Thumus means coverage. In the medieval times, the plant was considered a source of bravery and strength. In ancient Greece, it was a compliment to be told that you smell like Thyme.

Therapeutic Properties: Analgesic, antiviral, bactericidal, carminative, cell proliferant, deodorant, disinfectant, insecticide, germicidal, nervous system sedative, respiratory stimulant.



Botanical Name:Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis)

Sources:This evergreen shrub native to the Mediterranean region with tiny, light blue flowers. It is a perennial that prefers a sandy, dry environment with a Mediterranean type climate, environment. It is mainly produced in Spain, Tunisia, France, the US, and Morocco.

History:Rosemary flourishes best growing by the ocean or coast. The Latin name “Rosmarinus” means “dew of the sea" or “rose of the sea." In the middle age, rosemary was considered a sacred plant and often used to ward off evil spirits. It was also a useful aid and protection against the plaque. Rosemary became known as the “remembrance herb as there was evidence that its use improved memory.
