Sources: This perennial herb grows up to 3 feet tall and is a native to the Mediterranean region. The United States is the largest producer of peppermint essential oil. It is also cultivated in Brazil, Argentina, France, Italy, Morocco, Poland, Holland, and several other countries.

History: Peppermint oil is one of the most widely used essential oils from food and beverages to medicines and cosmetics. Peppermint is documented to be one of the oldest Medicinal herbs, however, the oil was not used extensively as a medicinal herb until the 16th century.

Therapeutic Properties: Analgesic, anodyne, antacid, anti-inflammatory, anti-neuralgic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, carminative, cordial, digestive, rubefacient, sedative, stimulant, and stomachic.
