Tea Tee oil was used for many years by the Australian Aborigines. In 1777, Captain James Cook sailed to Australia for the first time and observed the indigenous people making a tea from the leaves. They taught him about the healing powers of tea tree. The freshly cut leaves of the tree were placed directly on the skin to treat wounds, cuts and bites. As a result, Captain Cook termed the name Tea Tree. Eventually the medicinal power spread to the Europeans, and vast research documented tea tree’s effects and benefits.
